Laura Cassain

ROLE IN THE PROJECT:
She is a member of the Group on International Migration Studies (GEMI) at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Laura Cassain is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Applied Sociology of the Complutense University of Madrid and an adjunct professor at the Departments of Sociology and Gender Studies at Syracuse University in Madrid. She holds a PhD in Sociology and Anthropology from the Complutense University of Madrid and a diploma in Social Research and Data Analysis from the Spanish Sociological Research Center. Her doctoral research project inquired into the experience of return migration in contexts of socio-economic crisis and combined a transnational and intersectional approach. She has published in Transnational Social Review, Población y Sociedad, and is co-author of the monograph Hacia la implementación de la interseccionalidad: el Ayuntamiento de Madrid como caso de estudio (Thomson Reuters 2020). She has worked in public and private research institutions such as the Sociological Research Center, Women’s Institute, and Andaira Cooperative, participating in projects dealing with human trafficking, temporary migration, evaluation of local policies, and methodological innovation.
