
Bertrand Steiner
ROLE IN THE PROJECT:
Bertrand Steiner is a Research Assistant contributing to WP7 (Regularisation Policies).
Bertrand Steiner is a Research Assistant at MPI Europe, where his work centers on issues such as the European Union’s New Pact on Migration and Asylum, refugee integration, irregular migration, and strategies for return and reintegration. In his current role, he is actively contributing to WP7, focusing on the regularisation policies that underpin the project’s objectives.
Before joining MPI Europe, Bertrand worked at Open Access Now in Brussels, where he specialized in EU policy and advocacy for digital rights. He also gained experience at the French national asylum court (Cour nationale du droit d’asile, CNDA) and as a photojournalist, in addition to conducting conflicts of interest research for the UK-based nongovernmental organization Asylos.
Bertrand holds a master’s degree in public international law (cum laude) from the University of Groningen, with a specialization in humanitarian law, human rights law, and refugee law. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in law and a bachelor’s degree in modern state theory (both with distinctions) from the University of Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas.
